Wolff wins £10,000 Pot Limit Omaha at British Poker Open

6 September 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The second event of the British Poker Open at Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City in London saw its winner crowned live on PokerGO as George Wolff defeated a stacked final table in Event No. 2 - £10,000 Pot Limit Omaha. Wolff collected £120,000 for this win, the second largest tournament result of his career beating out a field of 30 entrants.

From the winner: "It was a really tough final table, as tough as any high stakes cash game," said Wolff at the conclusion of his victory. "I had to play every spot very carefully. Stevie played really well and Sam always plays really good but unpredictable. For the last eight or nine months, I've been playing more tournaments and it definitely feels really cool to win one."

The final table started with six players and both Finnish pros were the first to get eliminated. Jens Kyllonen busted on the bubble and Joni Jouhkimainen took home a min cash worth £24,000. The U.K.’s Gavin Cochrane busted in fourth place when his flush draw failed to come through after he found himself all in on the turn against Sam Soverel’s two pair. Cochrane collected £30,000.

The UK all-time money list leader Stephen Chidwick busted in third place for £48,000. Chidwick ran trips into Soverel’s full house and headed for the exit to leave Soverel battle Wolff heads up. After more than 90 minutes of heads-up action, Wolff came out on top when he hit his straight against Soverel who was all in on the flop with top pair and a gutshot.
