Greenwood wins £119,600 at British Poker Open3 September 2019(PRESS RELEASE) -- The British Poker Open kicked off its first event on Monday at Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City in London and Luc Greenwood came out on top Tuesday afternoon beating a field of 29 total entries. Greenwood collected £119,600 for this efforts after beating Steve O'Dwyer heads up. From the winner: "I can't remember the last time I won a tournament. The money is obviously top priority but getting the win is awesome. Now that I'm off to a good start, the British Poker Open trophy is a good reason to keep playing the rest of the events." Mike Watson, seventh on Canada's all-time money list, ultimately bubbled guaranteeing a £26,600 payout for the final four players. Hometown hero Sam Grafton busted in fourth place when he hit the rail after a big three-way all-in. Grafton moved all-in with pocket eights, Robert Flink came over the top with ace-king and Steve O'Dwyer found pocket tens for a triple up. Flink later busted in third place for £41,600 when his deuces did not hold up against Greenwood's king-queen. The heads-up battle was nothing more than a formality as O'Dwyer had no more than five big blinds left to play with at the start. After doubling up once, O'Dwyer exited in second place for a £72,800 score. O’Dwyer found pocket tens on his final hand but Greenwood hit a king on the turn to seal the deal. Other players that competed in the opening event included U.K.’s all-time money list leader Stephen Chidwick, High Roller of the Year defending champion Sam Soverel, and 2019 GPI Player of the Year Alex Foxen.
