WinStar World Casino and Resort blood drive

8 June 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- A total of 279 WinStar World Casino and Resort employees made contributions to help replenish the blood supply for Oklahomans in need during its 22 May blood drive. According to the Oklahoma Blood Institute, the need for blood donations tends to be higher during the summer as the amount of travel and outdoor activities increases.

“Partnering with OBI to host a blood drives are by far one of our favorite ways to give back,” said Stephanie Callaway, WinStar’s Facility Marketing Manager. “With each blood drive we host, it’s exciting to see our team come together to help those in need within our community.”

With the 279 successful blood donations from its May blood drive, WinStar employees helped potentially save 837 lives in Oklahoma.

“Oklahoma Blood Institute is so thankful for our partnership with WinStar World Casino & Resort,” said Dr. John Armitage, OBI President and CEO. “WinStar holds the largest casino blood drives in the state, with nearly 300 donors giving the priceless gift of blood several times a year. WinStar’s employees and patrons are true heroes to patients and their families.”

In 2017, WinStar exceeded its overall donation goal with 1,025 donations collected from OBI blood drives help throughout the year. Callaway said the WinStar team hopes to continue to increase that number the end of 2018; the casino has set a 10% increase to its goal for 2018 – 1,100 total donors for 2018. The next employee blood drive at WinStar takes place on 24 July.
