West Virginia Racing, Simulcasting Stops during Talks5 January 2004CHESTER, West Virginia – As reported by the Associated Press: "Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort has halted live thoroughbred racing and wagering on simulcast races from other tracks while it tries to reach a new agreement with the Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association. "The current pact expired Thursday, and Mountaineer cannot resume racing or pari-mutuel wagering until a new deal is in place. "…The union representing pari-mutuel clerks, meanwhile, has agreed to extend the terms of its current contract until Jan. 10…" |
