Vancouver Track Up for Sale

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "The lag in the time it is taking the Vancouver City Council to decide on expanded gaming for Hastings Park has prompted Toronto-based Woodbine Entertainment Group to offer the track it purchased only two years ago for sale.

"In December, the Vancouver City Council delayed a decision on whether to amend city bylaws to allow slot machines at Hastings until June 8 so that council members could discuss the matter with neighborhood residents.

"Although Mayor Larry Campbell said he approves the measure to put the from 600 to 900 gaming machines at the track, the council moved ahead with a plan for slots at a new casino at the Plaza of Nations convention and amphitheater complex in downtown Vancouver in December…"
