Underage Gambler Denied Jackpot

NEW ZEALAND – As reported by the Marlborough Express: "A fake gold keyring is all Xiaofan Sun has to show for winning an $18,500 jackpot at the Christchurch Casino.

"The 19-year-old Chinese student believed the thousands of dollars he had poured into casino pokie machines over the past two years was about to be returned on New Year's Eve.

"But when management found out he was under the casino age restriction of 20 they refused to pay out, leaving him only a token memory of the win.

"…Mr Sun was asked to present proof of his age, but was unable to do so that night and returned the following day with his driver's licence.

"He was just seven months shy of the legal age to enter any of New Zealand's six casinos and was told he would get nothing.

"Mr Sun said he was unaware of the age requirement. Many of his underage student friends frequently gambled in the casino and had not been asked for age identification, he said…"
