Tropicana Launches Horse Racing Promotion4 February 2004ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "In an ironic contrast to the negotiations over casino subsidies for state race tracks, the Tropicana Casino and Resort is making horse racing the theme for its latest promotion to draw customers. "Starting last Friday, the casino began airing six previously run races a day on the Jumbotron television in its main concourse. The Meadowlands Racetrack, Monmouth Park Racetrack and Freehold Raceway provided videos of the races. "…The two industries are currently negotiating an agreement with the state that would involve casino payments to horse racing in exchange for not adding slot machines at race tracks. "…The casino is handing out free tickets with pre-selected first-, second- and third-place finishers from six races, which are shown every two hours starting at noon. The top prize, for a card with all 18 finishers, is $500,000…" |
