Tropicana Contractor Files Demo Permit9 January 2004ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City :"The general contractor for the Tropicana parking garage that partly collapsed in October, killing four construction workers and injuring 20 more, applied for a permit Wednesday to demolish at least part of the structure. "Confirming receipt of Keating Building Corp.'s application, city officials said Thursday that work to dismantle the crushed garage slabs and areas of the 12-story structure adjacent to the collapse zone likely will begin in late January or early February. "…City engineer Jerry Kilby said Thursday that he had not yet reviewed the demolition application for the garage, but believed the plans include taking down the five floors that pancaked down along with other parts of the garage directly affected by the collapse…" |
