This Week in Gambling: Las Vegas masks mandatory16 July 2020Two gambling giants have made face masks mandatory for their Las Vegas employees. Caesars Entertainment and the Las Vegas Sands have a combined eleven properties in Sin City, and employees who refuse to wear masks may face termination. We also have news of another casino reopening, even while the Governor of Nevada warns some closures could be on the way. In an attempt to bolster efforts to comply with the Nevada Governor's order that everybody wear a face-covering in public, casino operators Caesars Entertainment and Las Vegas Sands have announced that wearing masks in their Las Vegas properties is now a condition of employment. A spokesman for The Venetian (Las Vegas Sands) said employees who fail to wear a face-covering "will be subject to progressive discipline up to and including termination," while Caesars CEO Tony Rodio said "the failure to wear your mask at work will be grounds for termination." Guests are still being required under the current mandate to wear face coverings while on casino property. Meanwhile, MGM Resorts International has launched an internal campaign reminding workers to follow new health and safety protocols at all times, not just at work. Meanwhile, plans have been announced for the Bally's - Las Vegas reopen on 23 July, according to Caesars Entertainment.
