Some casino staff told to leave

25 January 2010

SINGAPORE -- No cards have been dealt yet, nor will there be for months, but 30 casino employees have already been fired, The Straits Times reported.

There are strict rules on who can work at Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands and the fired workers applications were rejected by the Casino Regulatory Authority, according to the Strait Times report.

Resorts World Sentosa workers had completed three month training programs and were fired a day after the resort opened, the report said.

There was no clear explanation of why they were fired, but it is suspected the workers may have had "brushes with the law" in the past, according to the Straits Times report.
