SMGHA and Palms Casino Resort award $100,000 in grants for Giving Tuesday3 December 2024(PRESS RELEASE) -- In celebration of Giving Tuesday, the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority and Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas proudly announced the awarding of $100,000 in grants to four impactful local organizations. Each organization received $25,000 to support programs that align with the SMGHA’s mission of uplifting communities through education, cultural preservation, and empowerment. The grants were awarded to: Springs Preserve Foundation: To preserve the Ethnobotanical Garden and support related programming. Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada: To support the Children’s Attorneys Project, providing legal aid to vulnerable youth. Clark County School District: To advance the Indian Education Opportunities Program, which supports Native American students. Society of American Indian Dentists: To fund scholarships for Native American students pursuing dental school education. “These organizations embody the values and pillars that drive SMGHA’s mission—education, empowerment, community resilience, and cultural preservation,” said Latisha Prieto, Chairperson of the SMGHA. “Through these grants, we are committed to fulfilling our legacy and aspiring to be a community leader for positive social change. This commitment is guided by The Spirit of Yawa’—to act on one’s beliefs—and inspires us to contribute meaningfully to the Las Vegas community and the organizations working to create a better tomorrow.” With a focus on providing a “hand up” to underserved populations, the SMGHA and Palms Casino Resort remain dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families within the communities they serve. |
