SkyCity Faces More Investigations

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Advertiser: " SkyCity Casino faces further investigations over its failure to report a man believed to have been 'snorting drugs' at a Port Adelaide Football Club function.

"The Independent Gambling Authority is not satisfied with a report it has received on the incident and has started its own inquiries.

"As revealed by The Advertiser in July, SkyCity surveillance of the suspicious behaviour of a patron was ignored because security staff feared it would 'sour' the casino's positive relationship with the club.

"The May, 2003, incident was referred to Liquor and Gaming Commissioner Bill Pryor and police by No Pokies MLC Nick Xenophon, who also raised the issue in Parliament. Mr Pryor has delivered a report to the IGA and Gambling Minister Michael Wright, but declined to comment on his findings.

"…SkyCity management is expected to be called to appear before the authority to explain what protocols it had in place at the time, and what action it has taken since…"
