Seminole Hard Rock Casino May Face Lawsuit

FLORIDA – As reported by the Miami Herald: "Davie's town attorney has been asked to research whether the town can sue the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino over noise issues.

"After listening to residents' complaints, Davie is working on several fronts to solve the problem of noise from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

"A flurry of noise-related calls to police during the casino's Jersey Shore Jam last week finally may have tipped the balance for town leaders, who have asked Town Attorney Monroe Kiar to look into legal remedies.

"'It's loud. It's really loud,' said Davie Mayor Tom Truex, adding that he was amazed by the noise he heard during a weekend bike ride on the east side of town.

"…The town has a friendly relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, whose reservation lies just east of the town across Florida's Turnpike. The town and the nation have an interlocal law enforcement agreement, but that agreement does not extend to nuisance complaints, such as noise.

"Davie leaders have met with tribe representatives. Discussions have been pleasant but appear to be going nowhere, Truex said…"
