Seminole Casino Immokalee hosts ESPN Billiards championships

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Billiard champions from around the world will participate in ESPN Billiards, produced by Billiards International, at the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee Tuesday, September 29 to Thursday, October 1. The Hall of Fame Challenge Cup, Men’s International Challenge of Champions, Women’s Tournament of Champions and Trick Shot Magic events are scheduled over the three days. All events are free to guests 21+ and will be taped to air on ESPN and ESPN 2 at a later date.

The three-day event kicks off with the Women's Professional Billiards Association (WPBA) Sanctioned Hall of Fame Challenge Cup Tuesday, September 29 at 2 p.m. Ewa Laurance, the holder of multiple World and U.S. Open 9-ball titles, is scheduled to attend. Over two decades Laurance has won Swedish, European, and U.S. national championships in her remarkable career. She has also received Player of the Year honors, been named WPBA Sportsperson of the Year and was inducted into the prestigious Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Hall of Fame in 2004. Jeanette Lee, also known as “The Black Widow,” is also scheduled to attend the Hall of Fame Challenge Cup. Lee has won more than 30 national and international titles including U.S. Open, WPBA Nationals, 2 Time International Challenge of Champions, World Bar Table Championship and World Games Gold Medalist and has been inducted into the WPBA Hall of Fame (2012) and BCA Hall of Fame (2013).

The World Pool Association (WPA) sanctioned Men’s International Challenge of Champions is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 3 p.m. The tournament features top male players from around the world including Niels Feijen, World 9-Ball Champion (2014), World Pool Masters Champion (2014) and 2013-2014 European 9-Ball Champion (2013-2014), Shane Van Boening, World Masters Champion (2015), US Bar Table Championship 9-Ball Division (2015), Diamond “BIG Foot” 10-Ball Champion (2015), U.S. Open 9-Ball Champion (2012, 2013, and 2014), World Masters Champion (2014), Derby City Classic 9-Ball Champion (2014) and US Open 9-Ball Champion (2012 and 2013), Thorsten Hohmann, World 14.1 Tournament Champion (2015), Archer Cup Champion (2015), International Challenge of Champions (2014), Manny Pacquiao Cup Champion (2014) and World 14.1 Tournament Champion (2013), and Albin Ouschan, China Open Champion (2015) and WPA World 9-Ball Runner-Up (2014).

The WPBA-sanctioned Women’s Tournament of Champions will be held Wednesday, September 30 at 2 p.m. Players scheduled to participate include two-time defending champion Kelly Fisher; Allison Fisher, the No. 1 ranked WPBA player; Jasmin Ouschan, the 2015 WPBA Master’s Champion; and Ga-Young Kim, WPBA Master’s Champion (2014 and 2013).

Trick Shot Magic, the highest-rated pool tournament on ESPN, will take place Thursday, October 1 at 2 p.m. In this special tournament, a trick shot will be selected by each player that must be matched by their opponent. Players scheduled to attend are overall World Champion Nick Nikolaidis, four-time defending champion Andy Segal, current Draw Shot World Champion Gabi “Mr. Perfect” Visiou and Florian Kohler, World Cup of Trick Shots champion.

Each evening professional players will host open practices on the casino floor in and be available for autograph signings. Admission to all events is free for guests 21+ and guests are advised to arrive early for prime seating.

The tournaments are produced by Billiards International and sponsored by Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee, Aramith Tournament Balls, Simonis Cloth, Diamond Billiards, Executive Billiards Delta-13 Racks and Pool Dawg.
