Resorts Atlantic City presents Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis Jr.26 March 2008ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Resorts Atlantic City announced that Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. will perform in the Superstar Theater April 6 & 7, 9 – 11, 2008. Fittingly titled "It Takes Two," the show stars the beloved husband and wife duo in a stellar performance that celebrates not only their love for music, but their love for each other. McCoo and Davis first met when they were both members of The Original 5th Dimension. During their tenure with the rock group, the two helped The 5th Dimension reach legendary status. The group's hits include a collection of timeless classics such as "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In," "One Less Bell To Answer," "'The Worst That Could Happen," "Wedding Bell Blues" and "Stoned Soul Picnic." After success with the group, McCoo and Davis decided to pursue their own interests. It was a risky decision, but one that paid off. The duo has garnered eight Grammy Awards, 15 Gold records, three Platinum albums, and countless accolades. When McCoo and Davis take the stage, audiences can expect to enjoy a wide range of classic favorites. The set list could include performances of smash singles like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," Chain of Fools," "Hold On, I'm Coming," "I Got You Babe," "Proud Mary" and one of the pair's signature songs, "You Don't Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show)." This song was the duo's first collaboration and earned them a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance. "You Don't Have To Be A Star" skyrocketed to the top of the charts and helped the album I Hope We Get To Love In Time reach Gold status. McCoo and Davis' talents don't stop with singing. After their initial success, the duo branched out into other mediums. They starred in their own television show on CBS called the "Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. Show." Though busy with countless projects, the duo managed to keep a rigorous touring schedule, making appearances throughout the country and internationally. The two have performed in Broadway shows and on television shows in addition to world tours. Each has received recognition as an actor on the stage, and McCoo has made several appearances on sitcoms and daytime dramas. McCoo and Davis have each accomplished solo successes in various endeavors. Many recognize McCoo from her work as host of the wildly popular Solid Gold television show in the 1980s, while Davis has a solo gospel album to his credit. The two continue to perform and create together and independently. Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. will perform in Resorts' Superstar Theater April 6 & 7 at 7 p.m.; April 9 at 2 p.m.; April 10 at 7 p.m.; and April 11 at 9 p.m. Tickets are priced at $30 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com. |
