Pala opens new Tourmaline Pools and parking garage

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Continuing its expansion and renovation, Pala Casino Spa and Resort today opened its new Tourmaline Pools and its renovated hotel parking garage. The new garage adds 420 new parking spaces giving Pala 3,700 convenient parking spaces just steps away from the action.

Pala’s new adults-only, Tourmaline Pools offer guests the opportunity to enjoy 14 luxurious cabanas, five pools, two expansive hot tubs, a new poolside bar, a new poolside restaurant and a variety of outdoor lounge spaces complete with fireplaces for evening cocktails. The pools are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, but will close at 5 p.m. on the days that outdoor concerts are held at the Starlight Theater.

“The opening of our new Tourmaline Pools along with the opening of our expanded parking facility mark the completion of two major elements in the first phase of our renovation and expansion. The new swimming pools also provide our guests a complete outdoor resort,” said Pala Chief Executive Officer Bill Bembenek.

The cabanas may be reserved for a full day or a half-day. They include sofas, color televisions, free wi-fi and food and drink service from the Poolside Café & Bar. Cabana rental reservations can be made at the Pala Spa or online.

The five pools are heated to allow guests to enjoy the water year around. The pools also offer in-water seating spaces around the perimeters and several beach-entry depth shelves. Several pools have water features and fountains and niches for rentable daybeds. Pala has taken care to offer some full-sun poolside lounge space, partial-sun trellis-covered space or fully sun-shaded cabana space to accommodate every guest’s preference.

The Poolside Café & Bar offers an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner and a wide variety of beers, cocktails and wines. And breakfast is served all day. For starters, there are a selection of cereals served with fresh bananas and strawberries for $6.95 and hot oatmeal with brown sugar, $6.50. Yogurt with fresh fruit parfait and seasonal fresh fruit may be enjoyed for $9.50 and $11.95 respectively. A Continental Breakfast is $10.95, a Smoked Salmon and Bagel platter is $14.95, the Poolside Breakfast is $10.95 and the All-American is $12.95. Then, there are specialty breakfasts, with egg beaters by special request. Early risers can enjoy a Southwestern Breakfast Burrito for $11.95, New York Steak and Eggs, $15.95, a Cabana Breakfast, $11.95, the Healthy Breakfast, $11.95, Eggs Benedict, $12.95 or Corned Beef Hash, $12.95. Hot Off the Griddle offers Chocolate Chip Pancakes, $9.95, A Buttermilk or Blueberry Pancake Stack, $9.50/$9.95, a French Toast Combo, $10.95 and a Fresh Fruit Belgian Waffle, $9.95.

Poolside appetizers range in price from $7.95 for Chips and Salsa to $14.95 for Shrimp Cocktail and also include Buffalo Wings, Loaded Tater Tots, Chicken Strips and Nachos Fiesta Grande.

Salads range in price from $9.95 for a Classic Caesar to $14.95 for Chopped Shrimp and Crab and also include a Cobb Salad, the “Paladise” Salad, Barbecue Chicken, The Wedge and an Asian Noodle Steak Salad.

The sandwich menu is extensive, is served all day and ranges from $9.95 for an all-beef Hot Dog or Pala’s famous B.L.A.T. to $14.95 for French Dip Roast Beef. Also available are a Grilled Burger, the “Pala” Burger, Seared Ahi Tuna, the Breakfast Burger, Turkey Burger, the Spa Garden Burger, Cabana Club Sandwich, BBQ Chicken Wings, a Crab Cake Melt and a Roasted Fresh Turkey Wrap.

The Bakery offers a Breakfast Basket, $8.95. Toast or English Muffin, $2.95, Bagel and Cream Cheese, $3.50 and Croissant, Cinnamon Roll or Fruit Danish, $3.50.

Beverages include Orange Juice, Tomato Juice, Coffee and Tea, V-8 Juice, Soft Drinks, Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice and Grapefruit Juice from $2.75 to $3.95. Desserts include Assorted Sorbets, $6.95, a Brownie Sundae, $6.95 and assorted Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream flavors, $7.95.

Poolside cocktails include a Mojito, a Pala Colada, the Palomar Margarita and The Mai Tai, $9 each, and the Pala Passion, $9.50. The Poolside Bar offers a selection of 15 domestic imported and craft bottled beers from $3.75 to $5.75 per bottle and nine select wines by the glass for $7.25 to $11.

To use the new adults-only Tourmaline Pools, guests must be minimum-age 21.

The next phase of Pala’s renovation and expansion is scheduled to open on Friday, 29 June. It will include:
  • A new 15,000-square-foot, glass-walled, smoke-free casino area that will offer over 300 slot and video poker machines, live poker, casino cashier services and several restaurants and bars.
  • The new Marquise Bar, which will be the centerpiece of a new 10,000 square-foot gaming area that will offer more than 300 slot and video poker machines and new blackjack and roulette tables in the remodeled casino area that previously housed the Infinity Lounge.
  • The re-opening of an expanded Luis Rey’s restaurant and lounge with its full menu of dining, drinks and live entertainment.
