Oceanside poker player wins two-day River Card Championship at Pala

26 February 2014

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Tobias Jolliffe’s four Deuces topped Ken Morey’s pair of Aces and the Oceanside, CA, player took home $7,380 from a $24,600 prize pool along with the championship of the Feb. 22-23 River Card poker tournament at Pala Casino Resort and Spa.

Morey, of San Diego, CA, won $4,182 for second place after 17 hours of poker action during the two-day event.

Tobias was dealt a pair of Deuces in the final hand and Morey had an Ace, Three in the hole. The flop was Ace, Six, Nine, but the turn and the river were both Deuces. The tournament played down to the final eight, all of whom cashed.

There were 82 entries in the tournament sponsored by River Card, Inc. clothing company, which markets a line of casual poker wear throughout the U.S. The name of each River Card Tournament winner is engraved on the four-foot-tall traveling trophy and each winner receives a replica of the trophy with first-place prize money.

River Card sponsors a full schedule of poker tournaments at casinos and poker rooms throughout Southern California.
