Oceanside poker player wins River Card championship at Pala

PALA, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Brandon Rupp’s AK bested Scott Tiedeman’s A9 after almost 11 hours of action and he won the recent (April 28) fourth River Card Quest for the Cup poker championship at Pala Casino Resort and Spa. Rupp, from Oceanside, Cal., took home $6,726 and a replica of the River Card traveling trophy for first place from a $21,840 prize pool. Tiedeman, of Poway, Cal., won $3,713 for second place. The final board was 7 K J A 6.

There were 182 entries in the tournament, sponsored by the River Card, Inc. clothing company, which markets a line of casual poker wear throughout the U.S. The name of each River Card Quest for the Cup winner is engraved on the four-foot-tall traveling trophy and each winner receives a replica of the trophy with first-place prize money. River Card sponsors a full schedule of poker tournaments at casinos and poker rooms throughout Southern California.

Pala paid 18 places in the tournament. In addition to Rupp and Tiedeman, the results included:
