New Zealand: Casino struggle to detect banned gamblers

5 January 2011

NEW ZEALAND -- The volume of patrons at SkyCity Casino creates challenge catching banned gamblers, according to the New Zealand Herald.

The disclosure comes after an investigation into a voluntarily banned gambler who won $60,000, the New Zealand Herald reported.

The gambler was paid out by SkyCity, who then sought clarification from the Dept of Internal Affairs on "conditions of re-entry into casinos", the report noted.

SkyCity would like the government to introduce regulations that would give legal clout to keep banned gamblers out, the New Zealand Herald said.
