Neil Diamond tribute artist comes to Suncoast Showroom

21 September 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Las Vegas local and Neil Diamond tribute artist Jay White will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Neil Diamond's first Las Vegas show with a special performance, "Jay White Honors Neil Diamond 1976," at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino Showroom on Saturday, 8 October.

Diamond's first Las Vegas performance was held at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in 1976, and "Jay White Honors Neil Diamond 1976" goes above and beyond to replicate the nuances of that legendary evening. White will perform the original set list, which includes Diamond's best-known hits "Sweet Caroline," "Cracklin' Rosie" and "I Am, I Said," in costumes identical to those worn by Diamond.

Early in his career, White gained an appreciation for Diamond’s music when he performed as part of a doo-wop group, a Top 40 band and as part of numerous musical theater productions. He later dedicated himself to paying tribute to the renowned artist, making his every movement and note embody Diamond's passion and charisma.

White's physical and vocal embodiment of Diamond landed him a nearly nine-year stint in "Legends in Concert" on the Las Vegas Strip. White followed that with an eight-year run performing in a solo Las Vegas Strip show as Diamond.

An accomplished performer, White has appeared in theaters and entertainment venues around the world. His additional accolades include performing for First Lady Nancy Reagan, singing the National Anthem at dozens of high-profile sporting events and appearing with Bob Hope for the American Legion.

In addition to his ventures on stage, White was selected by Hollywood director Ron Howard to portray Diamond in the Academy Award-nominated film "Frost/Nixon." Most recently, White starred in the documentary "Diamond Mountain" which was released in 2015.

Showtime is 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available from $22 plus tax and fees, and can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office, by calling 702.284.7777 or visiting the Suncoast Hotel and Casino website.
