Mountaineer Casino, workers reach tentative deal

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia -- As reported by Associated Press: "Union negotiators and executives at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in Chester have reached a tentative deal on a new contract for 200 striking workers.

"The agreement was reached at 4 p.m. Monday, Mountaineer President Ted Arneault told investors and analysts during a late-day conference call to discuss quarterly earnings. Lawyers for both sides have agreed on the contract language, and a press conference was planned for later Monday evening, he said.

"...Though Arneault said 'the strike has been resolved,' members of United Food & Commercial Workers Local 23 must still vote on the deal. The union said that will occur 10 a.m. Wednesday in East Liverpool, Ohio.

"The walkout by union cashiers, slot technicians and money room workers had lasted 10 days, with the two sides at odds over wages and health care..."
