Mohegan Sun hosts strongman competition

15 January 2008

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The World's Strongest Man's elite will participate in a strength competition by lifting as much weight as possible using the IronMind Rolling Thunder Revolving Dead Lift Handle. The public is encouraged to attend this event and are also asked to put their grip strength to the test. The excitement begins at 9:00pm on Friday, January 18th in the Spring Gateway at Mohegan Sun.

The world record for the top lift in the Rolling Thunder Deadlift is 274. 2 Ibs achieved by Laine Snook of the United Kingdom in 2006. This amazing record will be fiercely challenged as participants take a shot at breaking this mark. Everyone is welcome to witness this intense showcase of strength and try their own hand at the Rolling Thunder Deadlift. Each lifter is given as many attempts as needed to lift the weight in one minute's time. Lifting and pulling an IronMind Rolling Thunder Deadlift with at least 250 lbs attached to it is considered to be top notch grip!

This IronMind Rolling Thunder contest is being held in conjunction with the World's Strongest Man Super Series taking place the following night, Saturday, January 19th, in Mohegan Sun Arena where big forces like 2005-06 WSM Super Series Champ Mariusz Pudzianowski and 2007 All-American Strongman Champ Karl Gillingham will battle for Strongman Supremacy. Also joining the lineup for Saturday's competition is the Waterbury, CT native Derek Poundstone.
