Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs appoints two new directors26 August 2013WILKES-BARRE, Penn. (PRESS RELEASE) -– Ahead of the opening of ITS new 238-room hotel and convention center this fall, Mohegan Sun At Pocono Downs is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Meeks as the new director of sales and catering and name Timothy Athey as director of hotel operations. In his role, Athey will direct all aspects of hotel operations for the property's new, seven-story, 238-room hotel which is set to open later this fall. Athey has worked for Mohegan Sun for more than a decade, having started at Mohegan Sun's flagship property back in 1998 as a barback. Most recently, Athey was the guest services manager for Mohegan Sun's 1,200-room hotel in Connecticut. Meeks will oversee all aspects of convention and meetings business, catering, banquets and special events for the new 17,000 square-foot convention center. Meeks has been in the hospitality business for more than 30 years, beginning his career in El Paso, Texas, where he held various positions, including director of the West Texas Film Commission and then director of the El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau. After a more than 20-year career in El Paso, he moved to Ruidoso, N.M., where he worked in sales with the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino and then as general manager for two area hotels. |
