Mohegan Sun and Bally Technologies, Inc. break two world records in one day

29 April 2013

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Mohegan Sun and Bally Technologies, Inc. made history this past weekend by breaking not just one, but two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS©. On Saturday, April 27th, the two gaming giants set new records for the ‘Largest Slot Machine Tournament’ and ‘Most Slot Machines Running The Same Game Simultaneously.’

The tournament was held throughout Mohegan Sun’s vast property including all three casinos: Casino of the Earth, Casino of the Sky and Casino of the Wind. Over 3,000 guests participated to break the record for the ‘Largest Slot Machine Tournament’ and over 1,600 guests helped to break the record for ‘Most Slot Machines Running the Same Game Simultaneously.’ Representatives from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS© were on-site to validate the records.

“This is a huge day for everyone at Mohegan Sun as we not only hosted our biggest slot tournament in our 16 year history, but set a new world record,” said Bobby Soper, President and Chief Executive Officer for Mohegan Sun. “This would not have been possible without the countless number of dedicated and passionate employees whose hard work make Mohegan Sun what it is today – a top leader within the entertainment, gaming and hospitality industries.”

Mohegan Sun and Bally Technologies Inc. will be attempting to set a third record on May 11th for the ‘Most People Playing A Casino Virtual Racing Game.’ Breaking ground and records is not new to Mohegan Sun, who currently holds the record for the World’s Largest Wedding Cake set back in February 2004 with a cake measuring 17 feet tall and weighing 15,032 pounds.
