Michigan Board to Consider Casino Sale

MICHIGAN – As reported by the Detroit News: "The Michigan Gaming Control Board will likely consider the sale of either MotorCity Casino or MGM Grand Detroit Casino at its March 8 meeting, the board's executive director said Thursday.

"Dan Gustafson said the gaming board could have heard a request for a transfer of ownership of one of Detroit's casinos at a special board meeting tentatively planned for today, but it received an incomplete application and there wasn't enough time to resubmit the proper documents.

"…Gustafson said he hopes a completed application can be reviewed and ready by the board's March 8 meeting in Detroit.

"The MGM Mirage must sell either MotorCity or MGM Grand Detroit to conclude its $7.9 billion merger of Mandalay Resort Group in Las Vegas. The Nevada Gaming Commission gave its blessing to the merger Thursday night. Mandalay owns 53.5 percent of MotorCity and MGM owns about 95 percent of the MGM casino in Detroit…"
