Meadows celebrates construction milestone11 June 2008INGTON, Pennsylvania -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Meadows Racetrack & Casino will hold a traditional beam raising ceremony to mark the completion of steel work to its $175 million permanent casino at 11 a.m., tomorrow, June 12, 2008. The event is by invitation only. The media will be given a progress report on construction and a tour of the facility for the first time. The event, which will also mark the one-year anniversary of the temporary casino opening, will take place at the site of the new casino and grandstand, scheduled to open in spring 2009. During a brief program, Meadows officials, as well as local leaders will sign the final steel beam before it is raised and put onto the structure. Construction workers also will be treated to a cookout to thank them for their hard work. "Beam-raising is a key milestone in completing the structural portion on the great new casino we're building," said Bill Paulos, principal of Cannery Casino Resorts, which owns The Meadows. "We're pleased with our progress as we move closer to opening next year." The $175 million permanent casino will help make The Meadows a destination venue known all across America. With as many as 4,200 slot machines, enthusiasts who crave the very latest games will find all that and more. The facility also will integrate the long-standing tradition of harness racing at The Meadows with state-of-the-art gaming facilities and will provide three featured dining venues, which include a premier steak house, a specialty restaurant that overlooks the racetrack and a state-of-the-art food court. A centrally located lounge and bar will feature panoramic views of both the gaming floor and the racetrack. Based in Las Vegas, Cannery Casino Resorts is investing more than $450 million into the property. |
