Lucky man strikes gold on St. Patty's Day

PALM SPRINGS, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The luck of the Irish certainly held true for Joseph A. Finnegan on St. Patrick's Day when the New York man with a legendary Irish surname won a nearly half a million dollar MegaJackpot® on a Wheel of Fortune® dollar slot machine at Spa Resort Casino.

Making his annual visit to Palm Springs, Finnegan found his pot of gold at Spa Resort Casino—a $460,719.82 MegaJackpot®.

Finnegan is a retired business executive who splits his time between Manhattan, New York and Santa Fe, New Mexico. He said he "just had a feeling" when he sat down at the Wheel of Fortune® machine. A gut feeling told him to play two machines at the same time, and that's when the jackpot hit. After first wondering if his big win could be a mistake, he was soon happy to realize it was instead the "luck of the Irish on St. Patrick's Day." Finnegan says it still hasn't sunk in that he won the nearly half-a-million dollar jackpot!

The 48-year-old winner, who is also President of a charitable foundation, plans to give a majority of his winnings to philanthropic organizations.
