Kansas track owners stay optimistic

KANSAS -- As reported by the Morning Sun: "Despite slot machines being turned down by Sedgwick County voters, officials with the Wichita Greyhound Park — also owners of Camptown Greyhound Park in Frontenac — said on Thursday that there is the prospect to revisit the measure with voters.

"Phil Ruffin Jr., general manager of the now-closed Wichita Greyhound Park did elude to the prospect of revisiting the Sedgwick County vote to disallow slot machines at the Wichita Greyhound Park.

"The vote, that failed by just over 200 votes, forced the closure of the park in October.

"...Provisions in Senate Bill 66 — the bill that allows for expanded gaming in the state — does not allow for a revote on a destination casino for 25 years, but there is no provision on revoting on slot machines..."
