Hoosier Park to open on June 2

INDIANA -- As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "Indianapolis residents looking to gamble on slot machines without spending half their winnings on gasoline just to drive to casinos on the state's fringes will have another option come June 2.

"That's the day Hoosier Park will open its casino in Anderson, bringing Las Vegas-style gambling within a 40-mile drive of Downtown Indianapolis. Advertisement

"The horse-racing track spent $100 million on renovations and construction of a 92,000-square-foot casino complex.

"...Hoosier Park officials said they expected to provide more than $400 million to the state in gaming taxes and about 550 new jobs in the first five years of operation..."
