Greektown Casino Hotel raises $336,000 for local charities21 August 2018(PRESS RELEASE) -- Greektown Casino Hotel hosted its tenth annual Charity Golf Outing on Monday, 20 August and raised a record-breaking $336,000 to benefit three local nonprofit organizations: the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Alkebu-lan Village and the Detroit Area Agency on Aging’s (DAAA) Meals on Wheels program. More than 230 vendors and team members teed off for the annual event at the Detroit Golf Club, which included a day of golf followed by dinner and an auction. “We are committed to making a difference in our community, and together with the help of our vendors and team members, we hit record-breaking fundraising numbers,” said Jason Gregorec, chief executive officer and general manager, Greektown Casino-Hotel. “The funds raised will help support three deserving, local organizations that strive to make a positive impact on the lives of many.” Since its inception, Greektown Casino-Hotel’s annual golf outing, with the help of generous sponsors, has raised more than $1.7 million to benefit various Detroit-area charities, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, Rhonda Walker Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Detroit and Think Detroit PAL. Proceeds from this year’s event will be distributed to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, a leading institution dedicated to the African American experience; Alkebu-lan Village, an organization that uses martial arts to empower youth with concepts of mental preparation and moral precepts; and DAAA’s Meals on Wheels program, which offers meals to home-bound seniors and disabled adults. |
