Grammy Award-winning entertainer to visit Suncoast Showroom1 September 2016(PRESS RELEASE) -- Grammy Award-winning entertainer Jon Secada will bring his Latin-influenced hits to the Suncoast Hotel and Casino's Showroom 14 and 15 October. Born in Havana, Cuba, Secada got his start in the late 1980s as a background singer for Gloria Estefan. In 1991, he co-wrote her smash hit "Coming Out of the Dark" and released his self-titled debut album the following year. The album, which sold more than 6 million copies and earned triple-Platinum status, featured the chart-topping singles "Angel," "Just Another Day," "Do You Believe in Us" and "I'm Free." Secada's album was recognized with his first Grammy Award for "Best Latin Pop Album" in 1992. Secada released three more albums throughout the early '90s and earned his second Grammy Award for "Best Latin Pop Performance" in 1995. In addition to his own hit songs, Secada wrote songs for artists Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Mandy Moore, in addition to providing backup vocals on Enrique Iglesias's 2001 album, "Escape." Throughout his career, Secada has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. Secada also brought his music talents to the stage, appearing on Broadway in productions of "Grease," "Cabaret" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
