Gambler doesn't have to pay losses

UNITED KINGDOM -- As reported by the UK Daily Record: "A big-time gambler known as the Fat Man yesterday won a court battle not to pay back £2million he lost in one night at a casino.

"Fouad al-Zayat won the right to appeal a High Court ruling that he must pay up.

"London's Aspinall's Club could now end up with nothing as al-Zayat claims they can't enforce the debt.

"Allowing the appeal, Lord Justice Sedley said that al-Zayat dishonoured a cheque for £2 million he owed Aspinall's because of a row over croupiers.

"...Mr al-Zayat lost £23 million in 12 years at Aspinall's. His biggest loss was in March 2000 when he drew house cheques for £2 million - and lost the lot..."
