Dinner shouldn't be a gamble: Diner sues Horseshoe Casino over tainted spinach29 September 2008HAMMOND, Indiana -- As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times: "A man filed suit against an Indiana casino after becoming violently ill when he ate tainted spinach more than a week after a federal warning was issued against the produce. "On Sept. 17, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration issued a statement warning the public against consuming spinach due to an outbreak of Escherichia coli (or E. coli) bacteria found in certain types of spinach. "On Sept. 27, 2006, Cook County resident Jacob Dwyer took a shuttle bus to the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, a service provided by the casino. "According to a suit filed in Cook County Circuit court Friday, Dwyer ate at the casino after arriving that day—and became seriously ill within two days..." |
