Circling Raven Golf Club to host NFL players in celebrity charity event

30 May 2012

WORLEY, Idaho -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The newly expanded Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort Hotel and its highly acclaimed amenity course, Circling Raven Golf Club, will play host to the Third Annual Michael Roos Foundation Fish & Chip Celebrity Weekend, June 7-10.

The event will draw numerous past and present NFL players and raise funds for the Michael Roos Foundation, established in 2005 by the former Eastern Washington University standout and current member of the Tennessee Titans. The foundation supports children enduring emotional, physical, mental or financial distress. All proceeds from the Celebrity Weekend benefit the foundation.

“Circling Raven Golf Club and the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort are honored to be involved with this distinguished event,” said Director of Golf Tom Davidson, PGA. “The Michael Roos Foundation has helped thousands of children in need and giving back to the community has always been a priority of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. We’re excited to help the foundation continue its great charitable work.”

The weekend begins with a golf tournament on Friday, June 8, at Circling Raven. The Gene Bates-designed course ranks as one of the best public-access courses in the world. The scramble tournament will feature a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with each foursome joined by an NFL celebrity. Dinner, drinks and a sports auction will be held at the resort immediately following the tournament.

On Saturday, June 9, a bass fishing tournament will take place on nearby Lake Coeur d’Alene. Each boat will contain a pro fisherman, an NFL celebrity and two participants. Prizes will be awarded for biggest fish and other categories. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort and lunch will be available at the marina. Each participant will receive a Cabela’s fishing shirt and can keep the reel, rod and tackle used in the tournament.

Located in the Idaho panhandle, within an easy, scenic drive from the Spokane Airport, the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort completed a massive expansion last year. The project added two wings of upscale hotel rooms overlooking Circling Raven, a centerpiece pub area, a gourmet steakhouse, a fitness center, a 15,000 square-foot deluxe spa and pool and a 10-acre “front yard” used for concerts and other outdoor events.

Circling Raven Golf Club has garnered many “Best-Of” accolades since opening in 2003, including earning a spot on Golfweek’s List of the Top-100 Resort Courses, GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” and Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.”
