Cherokee casino reports results24 April 2007CHEROKEE, North Carolina – As reported by the Asheville Citizen-Times: "Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel increased its payouts to tribal members by $18 million last year and attracted an additional 200,000 visitors, according to the company's annual report this week. "The increase in profits comes as the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians plans add 1,000 jobs at the casino, already the largest private employer west of Asheville and one of North Carolina's top tourism attractions. "…Harrah's employs 1,873 people in Cherokee and made $280 million last year. It gave $244,319 to local charities. "…In 2006, 3.6 million people visited the casino, according to the report. The casino had a payroll of $68 million and spent $12 million with vendors in North Carolina for goods and services…" |
