Cedric the Entertainer at Resorts Atlantic City

4 June 2008

LANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Actor and comedian Cedric "The Entertainer" makes his Resorts Atlantic City debut on June 21, 2008. The one-night only performance will be in the Superstar Theater.

Cedric Kyles—better known as Cedric "The Entertainer"—has enjoyed skyrocketing success over the last decade thanks to his unique and engaging style of comedy. Before becoming the film star that he is today, Cedric performed mostly standup comedy. He got his big break in the early 1990s when he performed on the celebrated television program "It's Showtime at the Apollo." The appearance led to other comedy shows, including those on HBO and BET. In just a few years, he would become one of the country's best comedians. In fact, in 1994 Cedric was named BET's Richard Pryor Comic of the Year.

Soon Cedric was in high demand, and it was during this time he made the shift to acting. He earned a role on "The Steve Harvey Show" playing Cedric Jackie Robinson. From there, Cedric landed movie role after movie role, making the transition from standup to television to the big screen seem effortless.

Cedric has performed in numerous hit films, including "Barbershop," "Barbershop 2," "Be Cool," "Madagascar," "Intolerable Cruelty," "Johnson Family Vacation," "Big Momma's House," Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," "Man of the House," "Serving Sara" and "Code Name: The Cleaner" just to name a few. He even had his own sitcom called "Cedric the Entertainer Presents," which ran on Fox. He has starred in his own HBO Comedy Special, the "Cedric 'The Entertainer' Taking You Higher Special."

He has been honored with many awards, including a record-breaking four consecutive NAACP Image Awards. In 2002, he published his first comedy book called Grown-Ass Man.

Even though he has enjoyed abundant success as a film star, Cedric still enjoys performing standup comedy. He was featured, along with Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac, in the Spike Lee-directed documentary called "The Original Kings of Comedy." The film was based on the comedy tour called "The Kings of Comedy."

Cedric runs a philanthropic organization called Cedric the Entertainer Charitable Foundation, which gives out scholarships and performs outreach to inner-city youth. He also runs his own production company, A Bird and a Bear Entertainment. Cedric is expected to make his return to television as the star of an ABC sitcom.

Cedric "The Entertainer" will perform in Resorts' Superstar Theater on Saturday, June 21 at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $60 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
