Casino Regina Workers Ratify Contract20 December 2004SASKATCHEWAN – As reported by the Regina Leader-Post: "Casino Regina workers have ratified a contract agreement with the downtown Regina casino, despite opposition from some workers who are angry about the new deal. "'Not everyone is happy,' conceded Debbie Metz, president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada local union that represented about 375 workers at Casino Regina. "But the new contract 'is what it is,' and was ratified by a majority of the workers at a ratification meeting Friday, Metz said. "In a telephone interview Sunday, Metz said the unhappiness with the agreement relates partly to a new formula for dividing up tip revenue among different groups of workers at the casino. "…Aside from the tipping policy, the Casino Regina contract is generally in harmony with the provincial government's wage mandate policy and similar to other contracts signed by the Saskatchewan Government & General Employees' Union…" |
