Caesars Entertainment donates to Hope Exists Foundation

20 March 2023

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Leadership from Caesars Entertainment’s Atlantic City resorts, including Caesars Atlantic City, Tropicana Atlantic City, and Harrah's Atlantic City, presented the Hope Exists Foundation with a $100,000 donation on behalf of the Caesars Foundation.

"We are humbled to have the opportunity to support the Hope Exists Foundation and its goal to help those suffering from substance use disorders and mental health. This donation will help fund the organization’s ‘Hope Exists’ mobile response that will be dedicated to meeting individuals where they are and connecting them to critical support and treatment, focused here in Atlantic City” said John Koster, Eastern Regional President, Caesars Entertainment.

“The Hope Exists Foundation is very grateful to the Caesars team for their significant commitment and financial support for our Atlantic City project. The leadership team has been instrumental in moving this project forward and has truly been an excellent example of what can be accomplished through private-public partnerships where there is a shared mission and a unified pledge to contribute resources for the greater good,” said Hope Exists Chairman William Mazur, who accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.

The Hope Exists Foundation also acknowledged other substantial partners, including Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler, Senator Vincent Polistina, and Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds. Each of whom has put forth a relentless effort to organize, mobilize and facilitate many of the logistical moving parts of the project.

“We are very optimistic about moving the AC Project forward with this team of dedicated professionals from both the private and public sectors,” Mazur added.

Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler formed the Hope Exists Foundation in 2018 to help fund and support the Hope One Mobile Outreach Project. The Sheriff’s Community Services Unit operates the mobile unit with the help of multiple partners. Certified peer recovery specialists and licensed social workers, who understand the needs of those suffering from substance use and who can triage individuals in crisis, staff the vehicle.

Scheffler brought the concept to Atlantic County after recognizing a need for direct services for individuals suffering from mental health and substance use disorders. The intent of Hope One is to remove barriers for people in need and eliminate the stigma associated with seeking help. The mobile unit is a caring, non-judgmental environment for any resident of Atlantic County seeking safety and treatment guidance and support. Since its inception, Hope One has connected 4,000 individuals to treatment and other services.

In September 2022, Reynolds and Scheffler, both of whom have dedicated resources to tackle these problems, committed to a combined effort with cooperation from Polistina to support the foundation and maximize their ability to help individuals in need.
