Bally's Las Vegas to Host Nevada Gubernatorial Debate26 September 2006LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) –Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET), the League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley and the National Association of Women Business Owners have joined forces to sponsor "YOU Decide! 2006," a Nevada gubernatorial debate and candidates' fair, on October 9 at Bally's Las Vegas. Gubernatorial candidates Jim Gibbons and Dina Titus will face off in a formal, one-hour debate starting at 7 p.m. PT. The debate will be moderated by Richard Morgan, dean of the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Bally's will also host a candidates' fair, allowing Southern Nevada voters to meet candidates, ask questions and obtain informational literature. "Making smart decisions about issues and candidates during an election year requires sound, reliable information," said Jan Jones, senior vice president of communications and government relations for Harrah's. "We're proud to join with the League of Women Voters and National Association of Women Business Owners in hosting this exciting event, which will give local voters the opportunity to learn more about the candidates, and get the information they need to cast an informed ballot." "We are excited to co-sponsor 'YOU Decide! 2006' with the League of Women Voters of Las Vegas," said Becky H. Takeda, public policy chairman of the National Association of Women Business Owners. "While the advocacy groups which are coming together at this event may vary in opinion, we all agree that a well-informed electorate does a better job of making choices at the polls." Both events will be held in the convention center of Bally's Las Vegas, and admission is free to the public; however, members of the public interested in attending the gubernatorial debate must obtain a ticket in advance by calling 1-888-984-3327, or by e-mail at info@nawbolasvegas.org. Seating to the debate is limited, and tickets will be available on a first-come/first-served basis. |
