B.C. casino allowed to serve alcohol7 February 2007COQUITLAM, British Columbia – As reported by the Tri-City News: "By the end of the month, visitors to Coquitlam's Boulevard Casino will be allowed to drink alcohol while they gamble. "Coquitlam city council voted 6-2 Monday to give third and final reading to a zoning amendment bylaw Monday that would allow liquor service in all areas of the 80,000 sq. ft. casino. Alcohol is already allowed in the 1,200-seat Red Robinson Show Theatre and a separate lounge but current zoning does not allow drinks to be carried from those areas to the gaming floor. "…Howard Blank, vice-president of the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, which owns Boulevard Casino, said after the meeting he was pleased with the decision and proud council looked at the casino's 'excellent' record. "…Liquor sales throughout the casino should begin by month's end, he said, and current staff members have received Serving It Right training, which deals with responsible alcohol service…" |
