Shares of Las Vegas based companies post modest gains

LAS VEGAS -- Shares of Las Vegas-based companies posted modest gains on Friday as the Dow Jones industrial average gained 44 points.

It was the Dow's second gain in three days following congressional resolution of the "fiscal cliff."

Las Vegas Sands Corp. led gainers with an increase of $1.43, or 2.87 percent, to close at $51.19 on the New York Stock Exchange. Regional casino operator Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. gained 28 cents or 1.71 percent to close at $16.68 on the NYSE.

Shares of MGM Resorts International added 18 cents, or 1.44 percent, to close at $12.64 on the NYSE.

Shares of Wynn Resorts, Limited added $1.44 or 1.21 percent to close at $120.78 on the Nasdaq.

Shares of Penn National, which operates the M Resort in Henderson, gained 33 cents, or 0.65 percent, to close at $50.81 on the Nasdaq. And shares of Caesars Entertainment added 5 cents, or 0.66 percent to close at 7.60 on the Nasdaq.

Shares of NV Energy gained 12 cents, or 0.64 percent, to close at $18.77. And Southwest Gas Corp. saw a 16 cent gain, or 0.37 percent, to $43.56 on the NYSE.
