The Slot Expert's Guide to Winning at Slots and Video Poker30 August 2001
You can hear me give my slot and video poker tips live on The Good Times Show, hosted by Rudi Schiffer with Frank Scoblete, which is broadcast from Memphis on WMC 790AM Saturday morning from 10-12 CT. I'm always amazed at the number of people I see playing less than full coin on progressive slot machines. Playing short coin on a standalone progressive isn't as bad a play as on a wide-area progressive, because these machines tend to have paybacks similar to those of other slot machines in the casino. But the paybacks on wide-area progressives are very low, usually below 90%. These machines will drain your bankroll dry if you play them for a long time. So, the only reason to play the wide-area progressives is to take a shot at the big jackpot. If you don't play full coin, you're only increasing the progressive for someone else with no chance of hitting it yourself. This week's tip: Always play full coin on progressives.
