Slot Review: Yukon Gold from WMS Gaming30 August 2002
The symbols on this machine include a gold nugget, a dog in a miner's helmet, Bandit! the burro, a jackass, TNT, a pick axe and shovel, gold bars, and a 7. There's also a wild symbol that substitutes for these symbols. You win the Chuck Wagon bonus when two or more chuck wagon symbols are scattered on a payline. The bonus for two chuck wagon symbols is 5 to 7 times your line bet and the bonus for three chuck wagon symbols is 50 to 100 times your line bet. The last symbol in the game is the Yukon Gold symbol, which triggers the sound of a gun shot whenever it lands on the payline. Three or more Yukon Gold symbols on a payline starts the second screen bonus game. The second screen shows a grid of 20 tiles. You touch the tiles to reveal the pictures underneath, such as TNT, the dog in the miner's helmet, or the pick axe and shovel. Each time you reveal three matching pictures, you win one pick on the mining map screen that will follow. There are two other tiles in the matching game that you should be aware of. The Wild tile automatically finds the third match for a pair of tiles that you've already exposed. Finally, if you reveal three Bandit! tiles, the matching game part of the bonus is over. As you match tiles, they disappear to reveal the mining map underneath. When the matching game is over, the entire map is revealed and you pick a number of tiles on the map based on the number of matches you made in the matching game. If you happen to match three Bandit! symbols before you match any other tiles, you win a consolation prize. This game features the usual cute WMS characters. The gun shot sound accompanying the Yukon Gold symbol really got my attention. Finally, I liked the way the Yukon Gold bonus screen had multiple parts. (I also liked the big bonuses I got, too!)
