Should I play the $5 slots?

19 April 2010

hey john, i have been playing slots for about 10 years -- winning some losing some -- my choice of machine is usually a triple or triple double star $1 slot -- lately ive been riding the $5 double diamond. i play both machines the same way -- single, double or triple bets varying up every couple of spins -- it seems to work for me. my question is should i go back to the $1 slots -- took some courage to play the $5 the same way as the $1, but now im used to it and the payoffs SEEM higher in the long run. i like to win, but i really go to play -- winning is just a very nice bonus -- the quarters and below and video slots dont give me a thrill at all so i dont even play them -- any advice??

thanks for your time, carla

Dear Carla,

I like the fact that you don't play full coin all the time. Playing just one or two coins on some spins will help stretch your bankroll. You can stretch it even more by playing just one coin per spin. You won't get the bonus should you hit the jackpot, but how often do you hit the jackpot?

Now, should you go back to the $1 slots? If your bankroll can handle the $5 machines and you're having fun playing them, stay with them -- especially if you're winning more money (and losing less) playing them. I won't argue with success.

Best of luck in and out of the casinos,
John
