GoodTimes Radio Moves to SportsPlus 790 WMC4 July 2001
The popular GoodTimes Show, which broadcasts Tunica casino gaming and entertainment news to Mid-South listeners, will mark its 7th anniversary in operation on July 7 with its first show from a new location, SPORTSPLUS 790 WMC, Memphis. "The timing was perfect," said Rudi Schiffer, who hosts and produces the two-hour radio show. "We celebrate our anniversary on the same day that we kick off our first program on 790WMC, which is also moving into a new era with an all-sports radio format." The show is on every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until noon and features a pair of well-known gaming experts...gaming author Frank Scoblete and slot expert John Robison, both acknowledged as leaders in the field of casino games. Scoblete also writes for Jackpot Magazine and is the top best-selling author of gaming books in the USA. Scoblete's books include Break the One-Armed Bandits, Best Blackjack, and Forever Craps. Robison, a slot machine expert, is also managing editor of www.scoblete.com at RGT Online and the author of The Slot Expert's Guide to Playing Slots, which is published by Huntington Press. "The GoodTimes Show is a natural fit with our new ESPN all-sports radio network," said Kandye Smith, General Manager and Vice President of the Infinity Broadcasting-owned station. "The show is unique in that it is the only one with a live casino-gaming format in the Mid-South. It has proven longevity and will be a welcome partner for 79OWMC." In the last several years there has been an upsurge in all-sports stations. The GoodTimes Show signal will now cover a wide swath of the region and reach nearly Little Rock in the West, up into the Missouri Bootheel and the tip of Western Kentucky, East near the Tennessee River, and South below Greenwood, MS. Schiffer, who also writes for Jackpot with his "Heard It On The River" column, said while the show will be improved, its staple of call-ins from listeners, trivia for prizes, gaming advice, casino executive interviews and publicity, as well as current entertainment news, will continue as new features are added. The new 10 to noon slot is also expected to generate more listeners. Local callers in the Memphis area can telephone the show on 274-7979 and free long-distance is provided on 1-800-759-6279. Casino sponsors of the show include Hollywood, Harrah's, Sam's Town, Fitzgeralds, Gold Strike, Horseshoe, and Grand. This article is provided by the Frank Scoblete Network. Melissa A.
