Do machines on the end pay better?21 October 2005
Dear M.A.: Most slot directors today order about the same payback percentage for all of their machines in a particular denomination. The machines on the end will have the same payback percentage as the machines in the middle. I don't think you should always bet max coin on every spin. On straight multipliers, for example, betting more than one coin per spin is a waste because you're not getting an increase in hit frequency or payback percentage. You can find more of my thoughts about how many coins to play in each type of machine in my book The Slot Expert's Guide to Playing Slots and on this site by searching for The Best Number of Coins to Play. Best of luck in and out of the casinos,
Dear Ellie, Congratulations on your win. The reference to TINs was on a Web page on the IRS site from which I was quoting. I searched on the IRS site for information about Taxpayer Identification Numbers and this is what I found out. According to the IRS site, TIN is the general name for any Taxpayer Identification Number. It includes Social Security Numbers, Employer Identification Numbers, Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, Taxpayer Identification Numbers for Pending U.S. Adoptions, and Preparer Taxpayer Identification Numbers. Best of luck in and out of the casinos, Send your slot and video poker questions to John Robison, Slot Expert, at slotexpert@comcast.net. Because of the volume of mail I receive, I regret that I can't send a reply to every question. Also be advised that it may take several months for your question to appear in my column.
