Blazing 7s Progressive Machine Payback28 February 2000
I once heard a slot expert say that a Blazing 7s progressive machine has 3 payback chips in it. He said that each chip has more jackpots in it than the previous chip and that the machine switches to the chips with more jackpots in them as the progressive jackpot grows. He said that we should let the amateurs play the machines when the jackpots are low and unlikely and build the jackpots up for us pros. We should play the machines only when the jackpots are high and the machine is using the chip with the most jackpots on it. A Blazing 7s progressive machine has only one payback program chip in it. It doesn't have multiple chips with different numbers of jackpots on them. You're just as likely to hit the Blazing 7s progressive jackpot when the meter is low as when the meter is high. The probability of hitting the jackpot never changes. It's the same on every spin. I like playing Blazing 7s progressives sometimes and I take the value of the jackpot into account when I choose which machine to play. My criterion has nothing to do with the likelihood of hitting the jackpot, however, and everything to do with taxes. I play machines on which the jackpot is less than $1200 so I can avoid the W-2G. I might also play a machine if the jackpot is above $1500 or so. At that level, I figure that I'll win enough extra money to pay the taxes.
