Ask The Slot Expert

9 August 2001

Dear John,

Paris and Ballys in Las Vegas are conducting a yearlong contest for slots with a $1,000,000 cash prize going to the winner. First you must qualify and play a qualifying monthly contest with the top fifty (50) players each month going to the finals for the $1,000,000 cash prize.

My question is: How do you play the machines to win these qualifying rounds, given that you have qualifyed to make it to the monthly contest?

Thanks,
Markus

Dear Markus:

The way to play in any slot tournament is to hit the Spin button as fast as you can. You want those reels to start spinning again a split second after a spin ends. In this way, you'll get in the maximum number of spins you can in the time allotted.

Best of luck in the tournament. I hope you win the big prize!

John

Dear John,

How can I play poker at home?

I assume you're asking about video poker.

There are a number of ways to play video poker at home.

First, you can buy a casino games package. This will usually include roulette, blackjack, slots, and other games in addition to video poker.

Second, you can buy a video poker program. I think Bob Dancer Presents WinPoker is the best.

Third, you can go to a website that has video poker games. You can try www.videopoker.com and www.wagerworks.com.

Finally, you can go to one of the zillions of online casinos. Most have a "play for free" option.

My first and last suggestions are valid if you really wanted to know about live (table) poker.

Best of luck in and out of the casinos!
John
