Dear John,

I would like to know about the best deals to vegas, room, air and such from Chicago, IL. My wife and I and another couple are planning on going there around May 20th or so. I do a little craps and some blackjack. I use the Captain's system all the time and I have won much more than I have lost. My normal play is to start with around 500 dollars and play for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. I know this is not high-rolling, but I do it 2 to 3 times a month here in the Chicago area at the boats. Please inform me of anything that would be a deal.

Congratulations on using the Captain's system. As you've discovered, it enables you to avoid losing money on the cold shooters so you can be in the game when a hot shooter gets the dice.

I find that the best deals to Vegas are the vacation packages available from airlines and travel agents. The package price, including airfare and hotel, is frequently less expensive than the cheapest airfare available. A package is also good if you haven't established yourself at a particular casino yet (or if you want to try a new casino) and you don't qualify for the casino rate or a comped room. The disadvantage of a package is that you may not have as much flexibility when your choosing your flights.

The Las Vegas Advisor newsletter is a great source for deals and discounts. The benefits the come with the subscription easily pay for it many times over.
