Dear John, On a video poker machine with six games in it, which one should I play? Is each game separate? And if I hit a jackpot on one game and then switch to another game, will the odds be the same on the new game? D.S.
Dear D.S.: On multi-game video poker machines, like Bally's Game Maker, I would pick the game with the highest payback and for which I knew the strategy. Every hand you play on the machine is, in effect, dealt from a freshly shuffled deck of cards. Hitting the jackpot in one game has no effect on your chances of hitting the jackpot on another hand in the same game, and it also has no effect on your chances of hitting the jackpot if you switch to another game in the machine.
